Six to fourteen weeks sounds like a long time for something the size of your hand. It is also the honest number, and it is worth understanding where it goes.
Every piece is made once
There is no production run and no stock. Your piece begins when your photographs are read by a person, and it is built for one animal only. Nothing can be started early because nothing exists to start from.
The work has a floor
Wool has to be needled until it holds — layer after layer, each one compressed before the next goes on. A coat alone can be several thousand needle strokes. Resin has to be modelled, corrected against your photographs, printed, finished and painted. Silver is engraved and polished at the bench. None of these steps gets faster by trying harder.
There is an approval step in the middle
Before anything ships we photograph the finished piece and send you the images. You either approve it or tell us what needs adjusting, and two rounds of changes are free. That exchange takes days, and it is the reason you are never asked to accept something you have not seen.
What you get for the wait
A piece made specifically for you, adjusted until you are happy with it, and dispatched only after you have said yes. We give you your expected date when we accept the commission and we keep you posted at each stage, so you always know which wait you are in.
If a date matters — a birthday, an anniversary — tell us before you order. We would rather say honestly whether it is achievable than take the order and disappoint you.
